Martial Arts
Thomas Parenty founded the Golden Lion Martial Arts School in California where he trained hundreds of students in the traditional Chinese martial arts of Yang Family Tai Ji Quan (太極拳), Choy Li Fut Kung Fu (蔡李佛功夫), and Shaolin Five Animals (少林五形拳). He has won numerous competitions, including a gold medal in a sparring event at an international martial arts tournament, and has performed by invitation in the United States and Hong Kong.

He choreographed martial arts movements for three ballets and one avant guard modern
dance piece. The ballets - "The Emperor and the Nightingale," "Dim Sum," and "Bamboo" - were choreographed in collaboration with choreographer Michael Lowe for the Oakland Ballet (California). The avant guarde piece, "Avatars," was choreographed in collaboration with Jodi Lomask, the founder and artistic director of the dance company Capacitor.
